[ Signature ] omote : YOKOYAMA Sukehisa kore wo tsukuru Ansei ni-nen nigatsu kichi-jitsu "横山祐久作之 安政二年二月吉日" ura : - "備陽長船住"
[ Size ] Blade length 77,1cm (2 shaku 5 sun 4 bu 4 rin), sori 2,2cm (3 bu 2 rin), moto-haba 3,35cm, moto-kasane 0,97cm, saki-haba 1,81 cm, saki-kasane 0,56 cm, mekugi-ana(holes) 2, blade weight 1.076g , shirasaya length 107,5cm
[ Period ] Edo, end of. Ansei "安政"2(1855)
[ Province ] Bizen

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Mihaba is wide. Kasane is thick. There are differences between moto-haba and saki-haba. High sori attached. Chû-kissaki form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurimes are kiri. Saki is kuri-jiri. Two holes.
Jigane : Ko-itame-hada well grained. It becomes nagare-gokoro.
Hamon : Gunome-midare in nioi-deki. Kata-ochi-gunomes, square to appear "ha"s and chô-ji-ba mixed. Part by part, it shows saka-gakaru reverse to appear. Nioi-kuchi is shimari-gokoro. Ashis and yôs appeared.
Boushi : It runs in midare-komi, then turns in ko-maru.

YOKOYAMA Sukehisa was a pupil of first generation Sukenaga, a swordsmith who worked at Bizen provicen around end of Edo period. As the names of era on nakago, there are Keiô 慶応 2 and 3. As the signatures, he had Bizen-no-kuni Osafune-jyû YOKOYAMA Sukehisa "備前國長船住横山祐久作", Bizen Osafune-jyû YOKOYAMA Sukehisa "備州長船住横山祐久作", etc. This sword is over 2 shaku 5 sun long. High sori and fun-bari attached. Favorable sword with magnificent form. Part by part, rhythmical gunome-chô-ji hamon shows saka-gakaru reverse direction. Its nioikuchi is distinctive. Also there are several variations of changes in ha. As omote-mei signature on omote side of nakago, there is the name of era Ansei 2 ni-gatsu February Ansei 2(1855). The signature on ura side of nakago, there is a single singed elegant name Biyô Osafune-jyû "備陽長船住", which seems to tell the pride of him as a decendant of Bizen Osafune swordsmith. (e.g. Bizen Osafune "備前長船" name is synonymous with master swords).

This sword was carried on Touken to Rekishi vol 587, "刀剣と歴史587号", there was an account titled introduction of rare item and masterpieces Chinpin, kessaku no shôkai "珍品・傑作の紹介” by Mr. YOSHIKAWA Kôen.

[ Conditions ] There are a little small rusts ko-sabi and scratches hi-ke , however it is possible to preserve and appreciate as it is.

[ Attachments ] Habaki (suaka-ji, silver foiled, single), shirasaya, bag of shirasaya, Shô-shin kantei syo paper (Nihon Token Hozonkai, issued on 5th April Heisei 4(1992) and NBTHK Hozon paper (issued on 13th January Heisei 18(2006))
