[ Prefecture ] Shizuoka

[ Feature ]
Form : Hira-zukuri. Marumune, saki part only iori-mune. Mihaba is wide. Kasane is thin. Very shallow sori attached. Very unique form. There are goma-bashi expressed in open work. Tsume engraved as well.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurimes are suji-kais. Saki is ili-yama-gata. One hole.
Jigane : Itame-hada. Mokumes mixed. Jinie attached. Chikei appeared.
Hamon : Notare-midare. Gunomes mixed. Ashi appeared. Fine nie attached. Sunagashi appeared.
Boushi : It runs in midare-komi. Its saki turns in round and shallowly.

Swordsmith Sadayoshi was born at Tokushima prefecture in Meiji 41(1908). His real name was ENOMOTO Yoshiichi. He was a pupil of Gassan Sadakatsu. He moved to Mishima city, Shizuoka prefecture. He called himself Yû-sui-shin "湧水心". He got high reputation at Shin-saku meitô-ten as well. He was treated as mukansa in Shôwa 56, then certified in Heisei 8. In this year, Heisei 8(1996), his son, ENOMOTO Sadahito left a comment on his prize for effort "my teacher and father works everyday in order to create excellent sword regardless his age. To meet his spirit and passion, I'd like to continue my effort more and more" ( The Japanese sword journal Tôken bijyutsu #475). He had his signature "榎本貞吉作", "伊豆三島住貞吉謹作", "豆州三島住湧水心貞吉謹作", etc. His deceased year was Heisei 12(2000), 92 years old.

[ Highlight ]
This sword is a utsushi of Hôchô Masamune tantô. The sword was exhibited in Shinsaku meitô ten in Shôwa 56(1981). Then he was treated as a mukansa later on. A commemoration sword. On mokume mixed clean itame jigane, hamon shows many changes in notare-midare. Engravings on omote and ura become a kind of accents.
