[ Size ] Blade length 54.6cm (1 shaku 8 sun 0 bu 1 rin), sori 1.6cm (5 bu 2 rin), moto-haba 3.35cm, moto-kasane 0.74cm, saki-haba 2.52 cm, saki-kasane 0.64 cm, mekugi-ana(hole) 1, blade weight 627g , shirasaya length 82cm, koshirae length 87cm
[ Period ] early Edo period (1603-1867)
[ Province ] Iyo "伊予"

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Mihaba is wide. Kasane is relatively thick. There are some differences between moto-haba and saki-haba. High sori attached. Chu-kissaki extended form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurimes are suji-kais. Saki is shallow kuri-jiri. One hole. Nakago-jiri has been a little cut. The upper part of character "作" merely remained.
Jigane : Ko-itame-hada well grained. Fine jinie attached. Fine chikei appeared.
Hamon : Notare, gunomes mixed. Nie attached well, which become uneven part by part. Sunagashis appeared.
Boushi : It runs in midare-komi. Saki is haki-kake with top becoming sharp. It turns deep.

Koshirae : black ishime-ji-nuri-zaya wakizashi koshirae ; tsuba : design of peony (iron, taka-bori, gold iroe) ; a pair of menuki : design of aki-kusa autumn plants (shakudo, katachi-bori, gold iroe) ; a pair of fuchigashira : design of paulownia (iron, taka-bori, point inlay)

[ Highlight ]

The Iyo Matsuyama swordsmit, Izumi Daijo Kuniteru "和泉大掾国輝", was Miyoshi Tarobei and learned sword making as a pupil of Nagakuni "長國" . In Kanbun "寛文" 3, receives Izumi Daijojo, and changes name to Toshiro Kuniteru "藤四郎国輝". The first generation Kunitere "国輝", in his signature, it is his characteristic and point of distinction, the left-side radical component of a Chinese character "掾" is not hand "手" but tree "木". The same name was passed down for seven generations until the late Edo period (1781-1789). This work is one of the best among the first generation of Kuniteru "国輝", and you can enjoy quality of work with nie base daring and powerful hamon.

[ Conditions ]
It has been polished. Both blade and koshirae maintain excellent conditions. No kozuka nor kogatana attached in the koshirae.
