[ Feature ]
Large: The jigane exhibits a mixture of itame-hada and flowing grain patterns. The hamon features a ko-gunome pattern with irregular interlocking eyes and foot marks. The hamon cap is small and rounded, with a long return.

Small: The jigane has a straight-grained pattern. The hamon features a ki-style pattern with irregular, curved lines, overlaid with sunagashi. The hamon cap is swept.

[ Highlight ] Kawachi Kunihira is a descendant of the Nara swordsmith Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke. He studied the Sōshū tradition under Miyairi Yukihira and the Bizen tradition under Sumitani Masamine. He was certified as a ‘Mukan-sa’ (master swordsmith exempt from official examination) in Shōwa 63 and received the ‘Masamune Prize’ in Heisei 26. He was also a pupil of the archaeologist Masao Suenaga and is known for his profound expertise in the restoration of swords unearthed from ancient burial mounds. He is a Preserver of Intangible Cultural Property of Nara Prefecture and has been awarded the Yellow Ribbon Medal and the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays. This piece features two distinct styles: the Sōshū tradition and the Bizen tradition.
