[ Province ] Bizen

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Mihaba is ordinal. Kasane is rather thick. Shallow sori attached. Chu-kissaki extended.
Nakago : Suri-age. Yasurime are katte-sagari. Saki is kiri. Two holes. There has been mach-okuri about 1 sun long.
Jigane : Itame, mokume and soem changes are mixed. It grained well. Jinie attached. Chikei appeared. Midare-utsuri come to be appeared.
Hamon : In koshi-biraki-gunome, togari-gunome mixed. Ashi and yo appeared. Ko-nie attached. Fine kin-sen and sunagashi appeared. Tobi-yaki appeared as well. Sugu-ha tone. Notare and gunome mixed. Fine ko-nie attached. Fine sunagashi appeared, too.
Boushi : It runs in midare-komi. Omote side shows sharp shape. Ura side, it turns in ko-maru form.

[ Highlight ] The blade has a shallow curvature and a medium cutting edge that extends outwards, and the itame-hada is well-grained and has a mottled appearance. The blade is also decorated with a lively pattern of ashi and ha, and the jiba is brilliant. There were many sword makers called Sukesada at the end of the Muromachi period. There are many works by Sukesada that do not bear his secular name, and this work is one such example. The reverse side shows a change in style from the mid-blade style of the hamon to a straight blade style towards the tip, and this is a characteristic often seen in the works of Sukesada.
