[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri: a ridge-style blade with an iori-mune spine; standard width and thickness; a relatively wide ridge; little difference in width between the base and tip; a slight curve; and a medium cutting edge.
Nakago : The tang is in its natural state; the file marks slope downwards; the tip is mountain-shaped; and there is a single mekugi hole.
Jigane : The jigane has an itame-hada texture, is slightly raised, and exhibits ji-nie.
Hamon : The hamon features a wavy pattern interspersed with ko-gunome and chōji patterns, as well as small ko-gunome patterns; it includes ashi and ha, with small ni, and is overlaid with kin-sen and sunagashi.
Boushi : The boushi is straight with a slightly rounded tip, and the tip is slightly swept back.

Aogai-chirashi lacquered sheath, wakizashi sheath: ‘Wheat Ears’ openwork sword guard (iron jigane with openwork), ‘Scattered Cherry Blossoms’ menuki (high-relief gold coloured painting on polished red copper base metal), ‘Tatsuta River’ sword guard (red copper base metal with gold inlay), ‘Landscape and Pavilion’ menuki (red copper base metal with relief carving), gold-brown silk, single-twist, single-pinch wrap handle

[ Highlight ] This is a wakizashi with a moderate difference in width between the base and the tip, and a moderately curved blade. The blade features itame forging with a hamon that starts as a gentle straight-edged pattern, becoming more dynamic towards the middle of the blade, and developing into a small ko-gunome pattern around the point. It appears to have been transferred to a shira-saya when it was recently polished, having previously been housed in its original mountings. The fact that it retains its original mountings makes it a rare find.

[ Conditions ] There is a shallow temper line in the middle of the base of the blade. The blade has been polished and is in excellent condition. The shira-saya and tsunagi are new. The sheath features a repair, with tape wrapped around the middle of the lacquered sheath.

[ Attachments ] Habaki(suaka-ji, silver foiled single), shirasaya, bag of shirasaya, koshirae and bag of koshirae.
