[ Size ]Blade length 68.3cm (2 shaku 2 sun 5 bu 4 rin), sori curvature 1.6cm (5 bu 2 rin), moto-haba base width 3.05cm, Moto-kasane 0.66cm, saki-haba tip width 2.17cm, saki-kasane tip thickness 0.46cm, 3 mekugi holes, blade weight 696g, shira-saya overall length 96cm

[ Province ] Settsu

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Both mihaba and kasane are oridnal. There are some differences between moto-haba and saki-haba. More or less, sori attached. Chu-kissaki a little shortened form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurime are suji-kai. Saki is kuri-jiri. Three holes(one of them is so called hikae-mekugi-ana). A little, machi has been advanced.
Jigane : Ko-itame-hada well grained. More or less, grained patterns (e.g. mokume) come to be appeared as mixture, fine jinie attached.
Hamon : It begins in sugu. In o-gunome-midare, deep nioi and ashi appeared. Ko-nie attached well. Tobi-yaki appeared.
Boushi : It runs in sugu. Form is ko-maru. It turns rather long.

[ Highlight ] Sukemune was a swordsmith of the Shimada school, and is said to have been a pupil of Sukehiro Tsuda. He moved from Suruga to Settsu and created swords there. This work has a strong appearance, with a jigane with fine ground grain that mixes together small itame-hada and slightly raised areas. Its yaki-dashi is in sugu, in o-gunome, with a lot of appeared ashi, ko-nie attached. Tobi-yaki appeared as well.

[ Conditions ] There is a slight cloudiness in parts due to old polishing.

[ Attachments ] Habaki(suaka-ji, gold foiled, double), shirasaya, bag of shirasaya, NBTHK tokubetsu hozon paper "特別保存刀剣鑑定書"(issued on 15th Dec. Reiwa 5(2023)) and NBTHK Tokubetsu kicho paper "特別貴重刀剣認定書"(issued on 15th Dec. Showa 49(1974))
