[ Feature ]
Form : Shihnogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Mihaba is wide. Kasane is thick. Shinogi-haba is rather wide. Shallow sori attached. Chu-kissaki extended.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurime are o-sujikai and kesho. Saki is iri-yama-gata. Two holes.
Jigane : Itame-hada well grained. Some changes mixed. Jinie attached.
Hamon : Chu-suguha. Habuchi has some loosened part. Ko-nie attached well. Kin-sen and sunagashi appeared.
Boushi : It runs in sugu. Form is ko-maru. Saki has haki-kake shape. It turns deep.

[ Highlight ] It is a long sword of 2 shaku 5sun, weighing over 1,000 grams, with a shallow curvature and a sturdy body. The well-grained itame skin has a well-defined graininess, with a deep flavour and nie based, and the edge of the blade is frayed, producing a bright, straight blade with kin-sen gold streaks and sunagashi sandy shadows. The Kaifu were a group of swordsmiths from the Awa region, and survived for a long time from the Kamakura period (1185-1333) to the end of the Edo period (1603-1868). The sword ‘Ashu Ujiyoshi-saku’ (famous Iwakiri Kaifu), owned by the warlord Miyoshi Nagayoshi, is particularly famous as it is said to have cut even rocks. It has a history of being used by the Awa Suigun (navy), and is attractive for its practical warlike construction and good cutting performance. This sword has a long stem with a reserve nail hole, but retains a sound appearance and is certified as ‘Shin-shin-to Kaifu’.
