[ Feature ]
Form : The blade features a shinogi-zukuri construction with an iori-mune ridge, standard width and thickness, a slight difference in width between the base and tip, a broad ridge with a high ridge line, moderate curvature, and a medium cutting edge.
Nakago : The nakago tang is raw, with file marks cut into it, iriyama-gata mountain-shaped tip, and one mekugi hole.
Jigane : The jigane (base metal) exhibits a predominantly itame-hada texture with some intermingled mokume-grain patterns, appearing ji-nie (fine surface grain) and chikei (fine surface texture).
Hamon : The hamon (temper line) is predominantly a fine, straight pattern (hoso-suguha) interspersed with small, irregular patterns (ko-gunome), featuring small nie (fine surface grain), ashii (fine surface texture), and a loose, frayed-like effect.
Boushi : The boshi (temper line tip) is straight, sweeping towards the tip before returning.

[ Highlight ] The blade exhibits a pronounced ridge, slightly tapering from the base to the tip, forming a chu-kissaki medium cutting edge. The jigane exhibits a masa-grained pattern, while the hamon features small, fine nie with a hint of fraying. This work clearly demonstrates the Yamato school tradition. The NBTHK hozon paper identifies it as Kai Mihara, while the Kurashiki Museum paper attributes it to the second-generation Nanki Shigekuni.

[ Conditions ] In excellent condition. The sheath, featuring the chestnut-shaped pommel and sama-gawa skin, along with the lacquered scabbard, shows signs of age and use. The shira-saya and tsunagi have been newly replaced.
