[ Size ]Blade length 70.2cm (2 shaku 3 sun 1 bu 6 rin), sori 1.3cm (4 bu 2 rin), moto-haba 3.05cm, moto-kasane 0.74cm, saki-haba 2.25 cm, saki-kasane 0.50 cm, mekugi-ana(hole) 1, blade weight 782g , shirasaya length 99cm

[ Province ] Mino "美濃"

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Mihaba is a little wide. Kasane is thick. The differnces between moto-haba and saki-haba is not so obvious. Saki a little spread. High sori and saki-zori attached. Ô-kissaki form.
Nakago : Ubu. Saki is ha-agari. Kuri-jiri. Yasurimes are katte-sagari. One hole.
Jigane : Itame-hada, some changes mixed, tends to show masa pattern. Jinie attached. Ara-nies mixed part by part. The colour of iron become blacken.
Hamon : In gunomes, ô-gunomes, hakobas shape "ha"s, togari-bas and midare-bas in notare tone mixed. Ashis and yôs mixed. Deep nioi appeared. Mura-nies attached part by part. Tobi-yakis, yu-bashirs, kin-sujis and sunagashis appeared.
Boushi : It rus in midare-komi. (omote) : especially, dynamic kin-sujis and sunagashis appeared. Sharpend form saki turns in haki-kake.

Koshirae : kuro-ro-iro-nuri kizami-zaya uchigatana-koshirae ; tsuba : design of waves (shakudô, gold fukurin) ; a pair of fuchi-gashira : design of clouds and dragon (iron. signature "江州彦根住藻柄子宗典製" ; a pair of menuki : dewsign of lions (shakudô, katachi-bori)

[ Highlight ]
Ô-mi-no-kami Kiyonobu "近江守清宣" was born in swordsmith family, in which ,the name of Kanenobu "兼宣" handed by generation by generation as a leader of Tokunaga school in seven branches of Seki swordsmith groups. When he received official rank "近江大掾" on 18th March Keichô "慶長" 16(1611), he changed his name from Kanenobu "兼宣" to Kiyonobu "清宣". Then he received honorable official rank "近江守". As representing swordsmith family in Seki from beginnig to first half of Edo period, Kinoyobu family, second generation Bicchû-no-kami Kiyonobu's swords are known relatively many. Third generation Kiyonobu had no official rank but he worked as a head of swordsmiths. Very few swords of first generation Ô-mi-no-kami Kiyonobu can be observed so that this sword is precious since there is a signature of creation year nenki "年紀". Hamon in dynamic composure with many chages, nie attached well. A with excitement filled with aspiration. A sword of "近江守藤原清宣" with signature of era "元和八年", just one year before this sword's creation year, was designated as one of 59th Jyu-yo token "重要刀剣".
