[ Size ] Blade length 53.8cm (1 shaku 7 sun 7 bu 5 rin), warp 1.2cm (3 bu 9 rin), moto-haba width 2.92cm, moto-kasane thickness 0.70cm, saki-haba width 2.07cm, saki-kasane thickness 0.43cm, one mekugi hole, blade weight 518.2g, total length of shirasaya sheath 80.5cm

[ Province ] Echizen

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Both mihaba and kasaene are ordinal. Rather high shinogi-suji and a little sori attached. Chu-kissaki with fukura attached state.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurime are suji-kai. Saki is iri-yama-gata form. One hole.
Jigane : Itame-hada, mokume mixed. Grained patterns come to be surface. Jinie attached. Chikei appeared.
Hamon : O-gunome-midare. Deep nioi, and sunagashi appeared. Ko-nie attached.
Boushi : It runs in sugu form. It turns in round.

[ Highlight ] Nobusada was a swordsmith of the Echizen Shimosaka school of the Nakamura clan, who created swords around the mid-Edo period (1673-1681). He made signatures such as ‘Echizen-no-kuni Mutsu No kami Fujiwara Nobusada’ and ‘Mutsu No kami Fujiwara Nobusada’. The first and second generations of this sword were made in Echizen around the Genroku period (1688-1704), and there is an inscription dated to the third year of the Genroku era (1688-1704). The second generation has a signature ‘Sentein 11th Mutsu-mamoru Fujiwara no Nobusada’. This is a long wakizashi with a good appearance and a sound and well-made sword with a brightly burnished blade with a o-gunome large alternating grain pattern on a jigane base with itame grain mixed with mokume wood pattern and a well-defined forged surface.
