[ Province ] Dewa

[ Feature ]
This small sword is carved with a koshi-hi and a soe-hi twice as long as the koshi-hi. The sword is runnig short and burnished, and has a Jizo hat with alternating patterns. It is reminiscent of the shadow hat of a Jizo.

[ Highlight ] Kazuhide was born in Yuzawa, Dewa, and his real name was Ikeda Seinai, a pupil of Suishinshi Masahide, a swordsmith in the Shonai Sakai family, who made his swords in Oizumi. From Bunka 5, he took the name Ryuken. He died in May 1838. There are chronological works from around Bunka 5 to Tempo 12. Seizo, the son of Ryuken I, had the first signature of Kazuyoshi, and from Tempo 12 he was known as Kazuhide, and there is a piece dated to the first year of Keio.
