[ Feature ]
Form : The sword has a shinogi-zukuri blade, iori-mune, a slightly wide body, a thick layer of grain, a slight difference in width between the base and tip, a medium cutting edge, and a curved form.
Engraving : The engraving on the front is of a verse from a poem by Motoori Norinaga, ‘Asahi ni niwo fu yama zakura hana’ (Cherry blossoms on the mountain blooming in the morning sun), and on the back is a goma-bashi (a pair of chopsticks used in a Buddhist ritual).
Nakago : The stem is a natural stem, with a large cross-hatch pattern and a decorative file, and one mekugi hole.
Jigane : The jigane has a well-grained itame-hada, with ji-nie and chikei.
Hamon : The hamon has a mixture of gunome and choji-ba, with ashi and ha, with a fine sunagashi.
Boushi : The boushi is almost straight on the front, and slightly disordered on the back, with a round tip and a slightly deep curve.
[ Highlight ] Ryujin Taro Sadayuki, born in 1909, was born as Sadakusu Adachi and was a pupil of Teishin Kawano (a pupil of Sadakatsu Gassan). He was a commissioned swordsmith in the Imperial Japanese Army and was in charge of forging and polishing Japanese swords at the Kinan Japanese Sword Forging and Polishing Dojo in Gobo City, Wakayama Prefecture. After the war, he received approval to create swords in 1966, and it is said that he wished only to devote himself to the creation of Japanese swords in the quiet mountains. The character 貞 in Sadayuki's name was given to him by his teacher, and the name Ryujin Taro was given to him by the supporters' association of Sadayuki. This wakizashi has a wide body and a slightly thick layer of grain, and the jigane has a well-kneaded itame-hada with jibuki and jikei, and the hamon has a dynamic appearance with mixed choji-midare and ashi-ha. The engravings on the front and back are well-balanced, and this wakizashi is full of the charm of a treasured sword.
[ Conditions ] There is a small flaw in the blade near the centre of the back of the blade. There is light rust near the tip of the cutting edge.
