[ Highlight ] This work is thought to be from the end of the Edo period or the Meiji period, based on the shape and the characteristics of the jigane. However, there were a relatively large number of swordsmiths who cut the name "Masatsugu" during this period, making it difficult to identify them by name. In view of the inscriptions and the range of the work, it is thought to be a swordsmith other than Suishinshi Masatsugu, Seiryusai Masatsugu and Sakurai Masatsugu (Manji). It has a distinctive inscription, so it is possible to identify it by comparing it with other works by the same swordsmith with a longer inscription, or with other materials.
