[ Highlight ] Minamoto Munekuni is considered to be a swordsmith whose book of signatures was lost until recently, and is also considered to be in the lineage of Iyo-no-jo Munetsugu. This sword has a style reminiscent of Satsuma shin-shin-to swords, with a wide body and thick grain, and is a magnificent piece of work. The blade pattern is a well done gunome wavy blade pattern with some yubashiri in places. This piece was included in the book 'Hizen Swords and Sword Guards' (Fukunaga Suiken and Terada Yorisuke, Yuzankaku, 1974 [Sword Section], p. 209) and is a rare and valuable piece.
