[ Period ] Edo, end of. Around Keio 慶應
[ Province ] Dewa

[ Feature ]
Form : Hira-zukuri. Iori-mune. Kasane is rather thick compared with mi-haba. No sori attached. Small size tanto form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurimes are kiri. Saki is kengyo. One hole.
Jigane : Ko-itame-hada well grained.
Hamon : Nie base, o-gunome mixed, tobi-yaki and sunagashi appeared. It becomes hitatsura appearance.
Boushi : Tip is round. It turns in variant and long. Mune has tempered area as well.

[ Highlight ] This is a Hitatsura short sword with intense nie in places. It comes in a black Ishime-nuri scabbard with a Hiwari design. Takamasa was a Dewa swordsmith around the Keio period. There are several pieces with signatures like "Amano Kawachi no Suke Fujiwara Takamasa" and "Amano Kawachi no Kami Fujiwara Takamasa" and one piece dates from the first year of the Keio era. The solidity of this short sword is also remarkable.
