[ Province ] Owari

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune, slightly steeply sloping, base width wide, slightly thick layer of grain, some diffrences between moto-haba and saki-haba. And in a medium cutting edge curved form.
Nakago : It has a rasp with o-suji-kai and kesho. And a mekugi hole.
Jigane : it is well-grained with itame grain skin, with a slightly itame-hada appearance and a nie boiling effect on the surface of the ground.
Hamon : blade design is notare, a mixture of alternating blades and sharp alternating blades, with a deep nioi smell, with a ashi foot in the blade, with ko-gunome and sunagashi. There are burn marks.
Boushi : it is straight with a small rounded edge and a slightly deep turn.

[ Highlight ] Hoki-no-kami Nobutaka I was born in Kozuchi, Mino, and is said to be a descendant of Sanami Kanekuni. He was called Kawamura Saemon and received the title of Hoki-no-kami in Tensho 9 at the age of 18. He later moved to Kiyosu in Bishu and then to Nagoya around Keicho 15 or 16, following Tokugawa Yoshinao. He retired in Kan'ei 10 and his nyudo signature was ‘Keiyu’, and he died in Kan'ei 13 at the age of 76. His son Nobutaka II received the title of Hoki-no-kami in Kan'ei 10, entered the priesthood in Kan'ei 2 at the age of 60 and died in Genroku 2 at the age of 87. He was as skilled as his father and left behind a number of outstanding works. This piece is a sound piece with a wide body and thick thickness, with a well-made jigane base blade. The stem is slightly tapered with a burnished edge, and the signatures on the front: ‘Hoki-no-kami Fujiwara no Nobutaka’ is cut closer to the mune and on the back: ‘Mae-Hakushu no Nobutaka Nyudo’ is cut a little closer to the centre.
