[ Highlight ] Tachibana Kunihide was a Sagami swordsmith from the Ansei period. He was a pupil of Nakayama Ikkansai Yoshihiro, who devised the hadamono forge produced by mixing iron, and was a student of Fujieda Hideyoshi, Miyaguchi Shigetoshi and others. He used the signatures 'Tachibana "立花"' and 'Tachibana"橘" ' interchangeably. The chronology includes Kaei 4/7, Ansei 2/3 and Bunkyuu 1. The work has a remarkable Jigane (ground iron) with the forged surface of the master's tradition, and the view with multiple layers of sunagashi over it is exhilarating. The handles seem lighter than the exterior impression, perhaps due to the deep carving of the straight grooves bo-his on both the front and back sides.
[ Conditions ] There is one very minor edge spillage on the cutting edge. Otherwise excellent.
