[ Highlight ] Sadanori was born in Kikuchi, Higo Province; commonly known as Saemon, he moved to Osaka where he became a pupil of Inoue Shinkai, and created swords in Settsu and Kyoto. He later became a retainer of the Naito family, and when the Naito family were granted a fief in Iwaki, Oshu, he accompanied them and moved to that region. It is said that in Osaka, he lived with Izumi-no-kami Kunitora. He is also said to have forged a naginata for the King of Joseon. He was a swordsmith active around the Kanbun era and was granted the title of Kaga-no-kami. His signature included names such as ‘Fujiwara Sadonori of Settsu’, ‘Kaga-no-kami Sadonori’, ‘Suzuki Kaga-no-kami Sadonori’ and ‘Kaga-no-kami Suzuki Sadonori’. Dates found on his blades include the 4th year of Jōō, the 2nd, 10th, 12th and 13th years of Kanbun, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th years of Enpō, the 2nd year of Tenna, the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 15th, 16th and 17th years of Genroku, the 2nd and 5th years of Hōei, and the 5th year of Shōtoku. This piece features a shallow curvature and a well-grained Koitame forging. It exhibits a consistent tone on both sides, with a wavy pattern interspersed with a ‘ko-gunome’ pattern. It possesses a deep ‘nioi’ (scent) and fine ‘ko-nie’ (small bubbles), resulting in a bright and vivid wavy blade pattern.

[ Conditions ] There are slight flaws, but overall it is excellent.
