Form : Shinogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Mihaba is wide. Kasane is ordinal. There are some differences of width, between moto-haba and saki-haba. Shallow koshi-zori attached. Chû-kissaki extended form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurimes are ô-suji-kai and keshô. Saki is kuri-jiri. One hole.
Jigane : Ko-mokume-hada well grained. Richi jinie attached.
Hamon : Nioi-deki. Yaki-haba is wide. Gunome-chô-ji-midare. Ashis appeared.
Boushi : Ichimai-boushi.
Saya-gaki : ISHIDÔ Teruhide saku ha-chô ni-shaku ni-sun ichi-bu kore ari Shôwa mizunoto-ushi nen sho-syun Kanzan shirusu (Kaô)
"鞘書 : 石堂輝秀作 刃長貳尺貳寸壹分有之 昭和癸丑年初春吉日 寒山誌(花押)" At early spring of Shôwa 48(1973), Dr. SATÔ Kanzan had appreciated this sword.

ISHIDÔ Teruhide was born in Meiji 33(1900). He had his name KIKUCHI Kiyo-kazu. When he was 13 years old, he became a pupil of his father, nineth generation ISHIDÔ Hide-kazu, who was a child of 8th generation ISHIDÔ Korekazu. ISHIDÔ family was a distinguished swordsmith family, who had been continuing from Edo period. Their criterion was ancien Ichi-mon-ji with chôji-midare hamon. From the family, master swordsmith appeared one after another. They flourished till end of Edo period, seventh generation Unjyu Korekazu, who was good at specific nie-deki chô-ji midare hamon. After Haitōrei Edict in Meiji period, they changed their family business to carpenter's tool manufacturing but it was considerable they succeeded the technique of sword creation without discontinuation. From the beginning of Shôwa period toward Shôwa 17 or 18, ISHIDÔ Teruhide created swords. War was ceased, he backed to carpenter tools manufacturing. He established his own style. His deceased year was Shôwa 57(1982). As ISHIDÔ family's tradition, the sword creation have tempered chô-ji-bas and gunome-bas. They could succeed to get established reputation as fine cutting edge swords manufacturer.
This sword has wide mihaba, sori attached around koshi-moto and strong form. On extremely well grained jigane, wide mihaba, shô-moyô small gunome-chô-ji hamon have been tempered. Kissaki becomes ichimai-bô-shi. Well balanced nikuoki, even ubu-bas remain. Its health is also precious. ISHIDÔ Teruhide's technique has been succeeded to ISHIDÔ Teruhide plane manufacturing still now, known as excellnt plane creation. At Takenaka carpenter's tool museum, which is one and only in Japan as such kind, ISHIDÔ's master piece planes are shown.
