[ Feature ]
Form : Shihogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Both mihaba and kasane are ordinal. Shallow sori attached. Chu-kissaki extended form.
Nakago : Suri-age. Yasurimes and saki are kiri. Four holes.
Jigane : Itame-hada well grained. Fine jinie attached.
Hamon : Gunome-cho-ji-midare. Ko-gunomes and cho-ji-bas mixed. Ashis appeared well. Nie attached. Sunagashi appeared. It is clear and bright.
Boushi : It runs in sugu shape. Ko-maru form. It truns relatively long.

[ Highlight ] This sword appears to have originally been about 2 shaku 4 sun and was inscribed with the name Oshu Aizu ju Masanaga, but has been refined so that only the four characters remain on the stem. The blade is finely worked with a well-grained tempered skin, and the alternating cho-ji pattern, which is brilliant and dynamic, is shown to be in the style of the first Aizu Masanaga.

Aizu Masanaga was called Miyoshi Riemon, the eldest son of Miyoshi Nagakuni, and was born in Iyomatsuyama. Harima-no-kami Teruhiro was his uncle, and it is said that he also studied under Umetada Meiju through this connection. Together with his father, he served Kato Yoshiaki, lord of the Matsuyama clan, and moved to Aizu when his lord was transferred to the lordship of Aizu Castle. He was a master craftsman in the Kato family, and his eldest son was Miyoshi Nagamichi.

[ Conditions ] It is in old polishing condition, but can be preserved and appreciated in its current state.
