[ Signature ] omote : 近江守藤原継廣　ura : 越前住下坂

[ Size ]Blade length 53.0 cm (1 shaku 7 sun 4 bu 9 rin), warp 1.8 cm (5 bu 9 rin), base width 2.95 cm, base tip 0.66 cm, tip width 2.16 cm, tip thickness 0.50 cm, mekugi hole 1 piece, blade weight 529.5 g, total length 75.5 cm in shira-saya

[ Province ] Echizen

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Both mihaba and kasane are ordinal. There are some diffrences between moto-haba and saki-haba. Rather deep sori attached. Chu-kissaki form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurime are suji-kai. Saki is kuri-jiri. One hole.
Jigane : Itame-hada, rather grained patterns come to be surface with some changes. Jinie attached. Fine chikei appeared.Iron coulour has been a little blackish.
Hamon : In sugu form, it has short yakidashi. It has gunome-midare, ashi appeared.
Boushi : It runs in sugu form. Then, it turns in ko-maru shape. Saki has a little haki-kake.

[ Highlight ] Omi-no-kami Tsuguhiro was a swordsmith who lived in Fukui, Echizen Province, around the Kanbun period. He also created swords in Zeze, Shiga-gun, Omi Province and in Edo. He made signatures such as ‘近江守藤原継広(litteraly, Tsuguhiro Fujiwara, guardian of Omi)’ and ‘越前国下坂継広(Tsuguhiro Shimosaka, Echizen Province)’. The dates include Meireki 3, Kanbun 3 and Enpo 6. This piece has the signature ‘Echizen Resident Shimosaka’ on the reverse side. This piece has a deep curvature, a slightly different base and tip width, a sound medium cutting edge form, a well-forged blackish jigane base, and a ko-gunome (alternating grain) turbulent curved form.

[ Conditions ] Old polishing, with minor rusting. There is rubbing on the stem.
