[ Feature ] Uchigatana-koshirae ; a vermilion ishi-me-nuri sheath: sword guard depicting peonies and a lion (jigane with inlaid coloured painting); menuki depicting insects (shaku-do red copper metalgam with relief carving and gold coloured painting); only the ishi-me-nuri rim and kabuto-gane are modern fittings [ Highlight ] Based on characteristics such as the itame forged jigane and the ko-gunome hamon, this sword has been identified as a ko-zori with a determined temper. The sheath is of modern manufacture, whilst the sword guard and menuki are crafted using Edo-period fittings. [ Conditions ] Although there is some wear from polishing, both the blade and sheath are well-preserved and in excellent condition. |
