[ Province ] Bungo 豊後

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune, width and thickness are normal. Shinogi-suji is slightly high. The curvature is in line with the shape. The shape is that of a medium cutting edge chu-kissaki.
Nakago : Raw-stemmed, rasped finish in kiri, saki has iri-yama-gata shape, a mekugi hole.
Jigane : Itame grain with wood grain. The base is attached with ji-nie. The base is appearing with chikei. The shinogi-ji is straight grain masa-me.
Hamon : Straight blade, with ko-gunome, ashi appeared legs and ko-nie attached.
Boushi : It runs in sugu. Form is small circle. Saki has haki-kake shape.

Ishime-nuri scabbard, uchigatana-koshirae: dark blue serpentine handle, Shachi-zu (or Shachi) design on a fuchigashira (shakudo-copper with gold coloured paintings in high relief on a dotted base), menuki (sword guard) with bamboo design in quince form (copper base).

[ Highlight ] Shigeyuki was a swordsmith of the Takata school in Bungo Province, active in the early Edo period. This work is considered to be the work of Shigeyuki I and was made around the Kan'ei period. It shows the usual style of the Takata school, with itame grain intermixed with mokume-grain and a well-grained base, and a straight blade with small alternating grain, ashi and a well-drawn blade with a ko-nie effect. It is in a good iai sheath.

[ Conditions ] The jigane of the sword appears a little rough in the middle of the body, and the stem has a shallowy remained signature.
