[ Highlight ] Kanehide was a swordsmith named Isamu Nakata, who lived in Hinode-cho, Seki-shi, Gifu Prefecture. In 1943, he became an army-appointed swordsmith. He also made signatures such as 「濃州住兼秀」「濃州関住兼秀作」「濃州住兼秀謹作」「濃州関住兼秀謹作」, etc., and his works are dated 18, 19, 20, 34, 38 and 41-45 Showa. At the Army Military Sword Technique Encouragement Conference held in 1944, Nakata Kanehide's created swords were selected as the 16th in the line of winning swords, and are highly regarded above other well-known and influential swordsmiths. This work was made in 1942, the year before he became an army-appointed swordsmith. The body width is normal, the thickness is slightly thicker and the body is well arranged, with ko-itame surface pattern well grained, fine jinie attached, ko-midare in ko-moyo is obvious with distinctive nioi-kuchi line, showing that the swordsmith was already highly skilled at his craft at this time.
