[ Highlight ] According to the book of signatures, there were two Masanao who lived in Bingo Mihara in the late Muromachi period: ‘Bishu Mihara ju Masanao’ of Kinashi Mihara, with signatures dated Eisho 2 (1505) and 4 (1507), and ‘Bishu Mihara ju Masanao’ of Mihara with signatures dated Eiroku 12 (1569), Tensho 3 (1575), 4 (1576), 6 (1578), 8 (1580) and 10 (1582). There are two ‘Saku’. This piece has a signature with the character for ‘Bun’, meaning the 6th year of the Tenmon Era (1537), which falls exactly between the two, superimposed over the character for ‘Sho’. The certificate of authenticity states that ‘Tensho (1573-1592)’ was ‘falsified’ to ‘Tenbun (1532-1555)’, but as the corresponding swordsmith is not found, it is possible that this was a correction at the time of production based on some misunderstanding. This sword is considered to have been created by Masanao, the latter of the above, and has a deep curvature and deep curvature in the shape of a sword with high Shinogi-suji, with a shallow curvature in the ground iron with a shallow grain flow and a turbulent blade with a shallow curvature, which is a characteristic of the late Muromachi period.
