[ Province ] Bingo

[ Feature ]
Form : Shinogi-zukuri. Iori-mune. Both mihaba and kasane are ordinal. Relatively high shinogi-suji, deep sori and sakizori attached. There are some differences between moto-haba and saki-haba. Chu-kissaki extended form.
Nakago : Ubu. Yasurime are suji-kai. Saki is kuri-jiri. Two holes.
Jigane : Itame-hada with some changes with masa tone. More or less, grained patterns come to be surface.
Hamon : Chu-sugu-ha tone. Shallow notare attached. Ko-gunome and ko-cho-ji-ba mixed. Habuchi frequently loosened. Ko-ashi and yo appeared. Distinction between jigane is clear. Ko-nie attached.
Boushi : It runs in shallow midare-komi. It truns in round. Saki has haki-kake shape.

[ Highlight ] According to the book of signatures, there was a swordsmith from the Eiwa period of the Nanbokucho period who made the signature ‘Bishu Jyu Kageshige’ and is considered to be of the Ko-Mihara school. The Bingo-Mihara school of swordsmiths flourished in the Mihara area of Bingo Province from the end of the Kamakura period to the end of the Muromachi period. The pre-Nanbokucho school of swordsmiths of this school is known as Ko-Mihara. This piece is thought to have been made by Kageshige of the Mihara school and has been identified as being from the early Muromachi period. Itame grain and masa-grained jigane base are characteristic of this school, as is the tightened blade pattern and the sweep of the cap. The detailed workmanship on the edge of the blade is a highlight.
