[ Caractéristiques ] [ Surligner ] Araki Kiyoshige was a swordsmith from Ueno (Kozuke) who was also an official swordsmith of the Sunpu at the end of the Edo period. He died on 15 July 1919 at the age of 80, and is said to have studied under Kiyomaro, as his gravestone reads: 'Gunma Prefecture samurai swordsmith Minamoto no Kiyomaro-mon high apprentice Araki Settsumori Minamoto no Kiyoshige'. The signature reads 'Minamoto no Kiyoshige' and the dates of the blade are Genji 1, Keio 1, 2 and 3. The style is close to that of Kiyomaro's Kiyohito, and it is thought that Kiyohito was his direct teacher. This work has a wide body, with no flattened flesh and a withered cut end. The Jigane is made of itame grain mixed with grains of wood and flowing skin. The blade has a powerful gunome turbulent blade, giving the sword a powerful appearance. [ Conditions ] Excellent.
